Terms of Service

Effective Date: January 1, 2025

Welcome to Canvas Help. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Canvas Help browser extension, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using Canvas Help, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Description of service

Canvas Help is a browser extension available for Chrome and Firefox that modifies how your local browser handles certain JavaScript events. Specifically, it patches EventTarget.prototype.addEventListener to block visibilitychange and blur events, spoofs document.hidden, document.visibilityState, and document.hasFocus() to always return "visible/focused", and sets window.onblur to a no-op.

The Service operates entirely within your local browser environment. It does not access, modify, or interfere with Canvas LMS servers or databases.

Account registration and security

To use Canvas Help, you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information updated.

You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for any activities or actions under your account. We use bcrypt to hash your password securely, but you must take reasonable steps to protect your login credentials. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, you must notify us immediately at support@canvashelp.app.

Subscription plans and payment

Canvas Help offers a Free tier and a Pro tier.

All payments are processed securely by our third-party payment processor, Paddle. Canvas Help does not store or process your credit card information. By upgrading to Pro, you authorize Paddle to charge your chosen payment method for the subscription fee.

Auto-Renewal and Cancellation: Your Pro subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel it. You can cancel your subscription at any time via the Paddle billing portal, which is accessible from within the extension. If you cancel, your cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period, and your account will downgrade to the Free tier. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.

Failed Payments: If Paddle is unable to process your payment, your account will automatically downgrade to the Free tier until the payment issue is resolved.
